The Lenskart Foundation’s Child Eye Care Centre is an initiative aimed at providing eye care services to communities lacking accessibility to such services. We strategically open our Child Eye Care Centres in areas that are inhabited by underserved people.
We opened our first 100 per cent charitable Child Eye Care centre at the Tughlakabad Extension, New Delhi, in August 2021 ad currently running 6 centres, 4 in delhi/NCR and one each in Lucknow and Jaipur. The name “Child Eye Care Centre” reflects our belief that children represent the future, and ensuring their clear vision is vital for their development. The most satisfying part of our journey is seeing children doing well in their studies because of our efforts. They now do not have to drop out of school. Their clear vision will surely help them in achieving new heights.
We are actively working to reduce the school dropout rate, which currently stands at 25% due to myopia, by organizing regular eye health care camps in government schools. These camps aim to educate students and teachers on the importance of good eye health. Many children attending have never been introduced to vision correction, and we aim to change that by offering free corrective glasses.
At our Child Eye Care Centers, we prioritize screening children’s eyes, but we also welcome adults, recognizing that they play a key role in bringing children to the centers. Many working adults have reported improved productivity after receiving a detailed eye examination.
Our goal is to provide free, comprehensive eye exams to prevent and control avoidable blindness, ensuring accessibility and affordability for the underprivileged.
We record the pertinent details of each patient on our centralized panel, which enables us to comprehensively understand their eye problems and needs. Moreover, we regularly follow up with each patient every six months using this data.
Following registration, we do 11-step detailed eye tests. If necessary, we also provide personalized recommendations for beneficial eye exercises and promote healthy dietary habits to support optimal eye health.
Following the eye test, we document their updated prescription and allow them to choose frames based on their preferences. They are then scheduled to return in one week to collect their custom-powered glasses.
After giving the glasses, our actual work begins as we monitor individuals to ensure they encounter no issues. Additionally, we schedule recheck-ups within 6 months and again give them the glasses if needed.
